The coolest kids in town

At least every mother would say their kids are cool but I do have some great pictures to proof it. Thomas is wanting to be cool sometimes and be like a grown up. Most of the time unfortunately he just does like his younger brother but we do treasure the moments when he is all grown up. Recently he has been asking whether we could go to a cafe to drink coffee (hot chocolate for him). He also wants to sit on his own and see the world pass. The world outside the local Starbucks is also very interesting and new so I don't blame him for wanting to do that.

Jasper had a very cool moment recently too. We enjoyed a lovely warm spring day and the boys wanted to go to the playground downstairs. They specifically want to go there so they can make friends. One little boy comes there every day at 3.30 pm after school so they are always keen to go then. This warm day made me take my sunglasses but it turned out very soon I wasn't to wear them for very long. He grabbed them out of my hands and I think he surprised his brother too by grabbing his scooter. The result one very cool little boy racing around the playground giving all the mothers something to smile about.

He is growing up fast learning from his brother and the nanny. The scooter was only given to Thomas when he was 3 whereas Jasper is only just turned 2. This week he has learned to say his name. This is always a great turning point as they start to be so much more aware of themselves. He still calls Thomas "Callega" and Thomas still calls him "Biggy" and that remains a mystery as to how they got to those names. At least we now know he knows his own name in case we call him to tell him off!

Summer coats

The boys both have a new summer coat and Thomas was very keen to wear his when we bought it. Its been on and off with the weather so there has been a lot of moaning. Last week in the Zoo it was warm enough to walk around for a little while without a coat.

But finally they have been able to wear the new coats this week and weekend. Its not really warm yet but whilst they are running around in the playground its warm enough for them. Mummy's standing by to watch the kids play are better off still wearing their winter coats as I found out from experience.  Our building comes with its own playground. When we got here it was covered in snow but slowly the slides started being visible and then the kids started to appear after school time. Thomas is completely used to making friends now and just walks up to boys and start interacting with them. Its very sweet also to see now how he is protecting his brother. Unfortunately he walked into a group of boys fighting (or playing a fight) and managed to get hit in the face. It didn't hurt too much and was a good way to explain that fighting is not so great. They learn quickly. Jasper already managed to climb the most advanced bit of this playground so I think soon we have to venture out to the bigger playgrounds in Central Park.
